FUND: Community Fund
Mobile Cafés are a relationship building opportunity, focused on the community within temporary housing complexes. CRASH staff, volunteers, and partner church/organization members come together and run free cafés at temporary housing complexes across Tohoku. Within temporary housing areas, there is a community meeting space where the residents come, have free coffee, tea, and snacks, and chat with volunteers and other housing residents. This provides much needed emotional care for the survivors, and increased opportunities for the CRASH staff and volunteers to share the gospel. There are currently eight Mobile Cafés throughout Tohoku which CRASH runs or takes part in:
Since last year, mobile cafés have been run by CRASH staff and volunteers from our 5 bases in the Tohoku area, with eventual transition to local churches taking responsibility for these cafés.
To Be Used For
While each Mobile Café has slightly different needs, costs range from buying snacks, tea, and coffee; gas and tolls for visiting these temporary housing locations 1-2 times a week; labor costs for long term staff members; and flyers to advertise for the cafés
